CNWL NHS Health Charity funded sensory soothe bags for service users of the Milton Keynes Perinatal Mental Health Service, which provides treatment and support for pregnant and post-natal women experiencing mental health difficulties
Many women the service works with have high levels of anxiety, which was only exacerbated by the pandemic, so the idea for the bags came about as a way to provide tools and strategies to help manage difficult emotions.
These simple bags, filled with treats for the senses, like hot chocolate and bath salts, provided comfort to women facing anxiety, stress, and depression. Just knowing someone cared made all the difference, as well as provide a resource that they could adapt and use throughout their recovery journey and again at times of possible relapse.
One recipient shared: "That little soothing bag made me feel really good. It put a smile on my face. Thank you."
