CNWL NHS Health Charity has funded the redevelopment of neglected gardens and green space at Rosedale Court, an inpatient rehabilitation unit. Rosedale Court works to engage people in their journey to recovery and rehabilitation, thus maintaining their knowledge, skills, and wellbeing in the community.
During the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the need became clear to work on and redesign the existing outdoor space, to create a healthy outdoor space for patients, helping wellbeing and recovery, enhancing physical condition, learning new skills, and providing opportunities for relaxation.
Today the space is a welcoming and relaxing place to both work and be a resident, with space to socialise, and a therapeutic space for growing vegetables, which residents can use in the kitchen.
Dawn, a patient at Rosedale Court said: “Myself and the other 20 patients feel blessed to have been admitted into Rosedale Court to aid our recovery. Rosedale creates an environment where patients feel understood, valued and supported.”
The service are now in the process of preparing a volunteering role to support the maintenance of the garden for years to come.
